Welcome to SpiltMilkComics, based in the beautiful setting of Hogsback. We’re Francois and Helen, a husband-and-wife team with a passion for creativity, nature, community, and meaningful digital work.
Our work has grown over the years. What started with art commissions, comics, websites, and nature-inspired merchandise has evolved into creating custom digital experiences with character. This includes websites, hand-drawn artwork, interactive maps, community games, digital tools, and projects like Winter Quest.
We believe in creating work that feels personal and alive. We are not interested in making generic websites or empty digital products. We like building things that carry emotion, story, and a real sense of the people or place behind them.
As a team, we work closely together. Francois focuses on web development, digital systems, IT problem-solving, and turning ideas into working tools. Helen brings her artistic talents to the forefront through illustration, visual storytelling, and human-made artwork.
Our story is simple yet meaningful. We met sight unseen, fell in love, and now share our lives with our son, Forest, who serves as our constant inspiration. Working from home as parents keeps us grounded and shapes the way we approach our work.
We care deeply about nature, ecology, and community. Our lifestyle and small business are closely connected to the world around us, from local school and community projects to tourism work, creative events, and environmental efforts. Francois also works part-time with the Cape Parrot Project, supporting work that helps protect endangered Cape parrots and restore indigenous forest.
We are not against technology or AI. Technology is a big part of what we do. But when it comes to artwork and visual identity, we believe the human touch matters. Real art carries feeling, intention, and soul, and that is something we want to keep at the heart of SpiltMilkComics.
